As summer blooms fade and cool autumn air settles across the garden, many gardeners feel an overwhelming urge to "tidy up." Flower beds turn from lush green canopies to brittle forests of brown, rustling seedheads and desiccated stalks. You don't have to choose between a messy property and dead bees. By shifting your maintenance calendar from autumn to spring, you can enjoy clean garden aesthetics while protecting wildlife:
