What SproutySpeaks is
We publish free gardening and plant-care articles, guides and short videos, hosted by our mascot Sprouty and co-host Sophie, plus free tools: a monthly garden calendar, a frost and heat date planner, and a "what to plant now" tool. There's nothing to buy and no accounts to create.
General information, not professional advice
Everything on SproutySpeaks is general educational information. It isn't professional horticultural, medical or veterinary advice, and reading an article or watching a video doesn't create a professional relationship. Gardens, climates, soils and plants vary, so a tip that works in one garden may not work in yours. We can't guarantee any result, including plant health, harvests or pest control. Use your own judgment, and ask a qualified professional when a decision really matters.
- Plants and pets. Some plants are toxic to people or pets. Check a plant's safety before growing or handling it around children and animals, and don't assume a plant is safe because it appears on this site. If you suspect poisoning, contact a doctor, veterinarian or poison control right away.
- Products and tools. Fertilizers, pest control products and garden tools can cause harm when misused. Always read and follow product labels and safety instructions; our content doesn't replace them.
- Tool results are estimates. Frost dates, heat dates, growing zones and planting suggestions are based on historical averages and public data. Weather doesn't follow averages, and your garden's microclimate may differ. Check local conditions before you plant, prune or spray.

The site, its tools and the newsletter are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that the content is accurate, complete or up to date, or that the site will always be available or error-free.

Everything on SproutySpeaks is for general information only and shouldn't be treated as professional or expert advice. You decide whether and how to use it, and you do so at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, SproutySpeaks isn't liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising from or related to your use of the site, its tools or the newsletter. That includes, without limitation, damaged, diseased or dead plants, poor or lost harvests, harm or damage from using or misusing garden tools, fertilizers, pest control or other products, and wasted time, money or supplies, whether the loss is direct or indirect and whether or not it could have been foreseen.
Our content
SproutySpeaks owns its articles, images, videos and the Sprouty and Sophie characters. You're welcome to read, print pages for personal use, share links, and quote a short passage with credit and a link back. Please ask us in writing before republishing articles, using our images or videos, or using our characters, unless the law otherwise allows it (for example, fair use).
If you believe something on the site uses your copyrighted work without permission, email us the page address and a short description of your work, and we'll look into it.
Newsletter
The newsletter is free and optional, and is for people 13 and older. Please only subscribe with an email address you're allowed to use. Every weekly digest has a one-click unsubscribe link. We may change how often it's sent, or stop it.
Other websites
The site embeds YouTube videos and links to other sites, including our YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok channels. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices; their own terms apply.
Please play nice
Don't try to disrupt or overload the site, break into parts that aren't public, send spam or malware, sign someone else up for the newsletter, or pretend to be SproutySpeaks, Sprouty or Sophie. We may block access that breaks these rules.
Changes
We may update the site or these terms. If we change the terms, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. Using the site after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by California law. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in California, though either of us may use small claims court where it qualifies. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
